Türkiye and Uzbekistan have signed five agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment, with plans to increase annual trade from approximately $3.1 billion in 2025 to $5 billion.
The agreements, covering trade, social security and business cooperation, were signed in Ankara on Thursday after discussions between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ahead of the Organization of Turkic States summit.
A revised preferential trade agreement will expand the list of products eligible for tariff concessions. The changes will take effect after both countries complete their respective domestic approval processes, according to Türkiye’s Trade Ministry.

The two leaders also agreed to establish a high-level business council to encourage joint investment and trade initiatives while improving coordination between government institutions and businesses. The initiative is expected to contribute to a longer-term bilateral trade target of $10 billion.
Additionally, a separate customs agreement will introduce advance electronic data exchange for goods and vehicles, helping streamline border procedures and facilitate cross-border trade.
Türkiye ranks as Uzbekistan’s fourth-largest trading partner. Trade between the two countries totalled $2.4 billion during the first nine months of 2026, comprising $1.5 billion in Turkish exports and $917.4 million in imports, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency.

Machinery was Türkiye’s leading export category to Uzbekistan last year, while copper and copper-based products accounted for the largest share of its imports from the Central Asian country.
Turkish construction companies have also maintained a strong presence in Uzbekistan, completing or undertaking 333 projects with a combined value exceeding $9.5 billion.
Meanwhile, the number of Uzbek visitors to Türkiye has risen significantly, reaching 649,719 in 2025, more than twice the 272,604 arrivals recorded in 2021.
