Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said Egypt and Indonesia aim to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030 while expanding joint manufacturing projects and attracting greater Indonesian investment in Egypt.
The announcement followed discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta during Al-Sisi’s official visit. The talks focused on strengthening the countries’ strategic partnership and coordinating positions on regional and international issues.
The two leaders oversaw the signing of four memorandums of understanding covering maritime affairs and fisheries, statistical cooperation, implementation of the strategic partnership action plan, and visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports.

Al-Sisi said both sides agreed to accelerate trade growth and address barriers to achieving the $5 billion target, while expanding manufacturing cooperation in priority sectors. The discussions also emphasized strengthening Egypt’s position as a production and export hub serving Arab, African, and global markets.
A joint statement welcomed progress in cooperation between Indonesia’s Danantara and Egypt’s Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority, particularly in crude palm oil production and distribution, phosphate fertilizers and related raw materials. The two leaders further called for broader cooperation in infrastructure, energy, logistics and agribusiness, alongside efforts to expand market access, investment and joint manufacturing.

The two countries also agreed to strengthen defense and security cooperation and enhance political coordination through regular high-level engagements and existing bilateral mechanisms, including the joint committee.
In education, culture and youth affairs, the two presidents agreed to expand bilateral cooperation. Prabowo welcomed Al-Azhar University’s decision to introduce Indonesian language studies at its Faculty of Languages and Translation. Al-Sisi noted that Egypt continued to host thousands of Indonesian students annually at Al-Azhar and other Egyptian universities, highlighting educational and cultural exchanges as a key pillar of bilateral relations.
