India and Denmark are exploring ways to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and industrial cooperation across several key sectors, following talks between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Danish Minister for Business and Competitiveness Martin Lidegaard.
In a post on X, Goyal said the meeting focused on expanding economic ties between the two countries and identifying new opportunities for collaboration that would support businesses in both markets.
“Reaffirmed our commitment to deepening bilateral economic engagement and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between India and Denmark,” Goyal said.

The meeting took place as both countries seek to deepen economic cooperation, with Danish businesses already maintaining a substantial footprint in India.
During the meeting, Lidegaard noted that approximately 250 Danish companies operate in India, employing more than 100,000 people. He also highlighted continued investor interest even before the free trade agreement (FTA).
Goyal also highlighted the need to consider the sensitivities of all participating countries during trade negotiations, noting that India had worked to address and respect concerns raised by member nations.
The discussions followed Lidegaard’s visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, where he also met Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi to discuss potential cooperation in offshore wind energy, green hydrogen and renewable energy integration.

India and Denmark have an established partnership in renewable energy, with collaboration covering wind power development and clean energy technologies. Lidegaard’s meeting with Goyal expanded the scope of discussions to trade, investment and industrial cooperation, as both countries seek to explore new business opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic relations.
