Malaysia and Poland aim to bolster their partnership across various sectors, including defense, food technology, trade and investment, digital innovation, renewable energy, and green hydrogen.
At a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that both leaders had engaged in deep discussions to strengthen cooperation in defense. The talks also covered key sectors, including food technology, digital innovation, renewable energy, and the halal industry.
Andrzej Duda arrived in Malaysia on Monday for a three-day official visit focused on deepening bilateral ties and broadening cooperation efforts.
Anwar Ibrahim also noted that Malaysia’s leadership of ASEAN this year, coupled with Poland’s upcoming EU Council presidency in 2025, presents a valuable diplomatic opportunity to strengthen ASEAN-EU ties, especially in trade.

Anwar highlighted that discussions between ASEAN and the EU, especially regarding the free trade agreement (FTA), have recently gained momentum after years of sluggish progress. In the past year—particularly in recent months—the process has accelerated. He expressed satisfaction that the talks are now advancing at a much faster pace.
Polish President Duda stressed that a major focus of discussions was strengthening cooperation between Malaysia and Central European nations participating in the Three Seas Initiative, which comprises EU member states from the region.

He pointed out that Poland had presided over both the EU Council and the Three Seas Initiative in the past six months and had engaged with the Malaysian Prime Minister on ASEAN’s perspective regarding cooperation with these nations. Additionally, Duda extended an invitation for Malaysia to take part in future summits under the initiative.
In 2024, Poland became Malaysia’s 8th largest trading partner within the European Union, with bilateral trade rising by 19.5% to RM5.66 billion compared to the previous year.
Malaysia’s main exports to Poland comprise electrical and electronic products, rubber goods, and machinery, while Poland’s key exports to Malaysia include machinery, equipment and parts, electrical and electronic products, and transport equipment.
