Mwani Qatar, Qatar’s port management authority, declared that Hamad Port, the nation’s premier gateway for global trade, has received the MSC CHARLESTON, marking the launch of a new direct CHINOOK-CLANGA service operated by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The development reflects the rapid expansion of maritime commerce through Hamad Port and reinforces Qatar’s status as a leading regional logistics hub, in line with the Ministry of Transport’s strategic objectives.
The new service offers direct weekly sailings between Hamad Port and major global hubs across East Asia and North America’s West Coast.
According to Mwani Qatar, Hamad Port is now linked to ports such as Colombo, Vung Tau, Haiphong, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Seattle, Prince Rupert, and Vancouver, broadening operational efficiency and deepening Qatar’s connectivity to key international trade corridors.
The port now provides direct and indirect access to more than 100 international destinations, enhancing supply chain agility and performance.

Mwani Qatar described the CHINOOK-CLANGA service launch with MSC as a key milestone in Hamad Port’s global growth strategy. The new route expands international reach and elevates opportunities for Qatar’s trade and economy.
Mwani Qatar also reiterated its dedication to advancing Hamad Port’s capabilities by continuously strengthening its shipping network and infrastructure. Through sustained investment in cutting-edge technologies and capacity upgrades, the port is being positioned to handle the world’s largest vessels, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to foster a diversified, innovation-led, and knowledge-based economy.
According to Logistics Middle East, Hamad Port handled nearly half of Qatar’s total container traffic in the first half of 2025. Between January and June, the country’s ports processed 742,789 TEUs, with around 368,000 of those transshipped through Hamad Port. This marks an 11% increase in transshipment volume compared to the same period in 2024.
