The International Group has launched a new business unit, International Aerospace & Defence Alloys, aimed at strengthening supply chains for aerospace and defence programs by focusing on high-integrity alloy solutions.
The new division separates the group’s aerospace and defence capabilities from its energy products operations, creating a dedicated commercial structure designed to meet the compliance, approvals, and customer interface requirements of the sector.
While operating as a distinct entity, the business will continue to leverage the group’s integrated manufacturing and testing base in Sheffield.
The launch comes at a time when defence budgets are expanding across major markets, and material supply chains remain under pressure. Global military spending has risen steadily in recent years, both in absolute terms and as a share of economic output, reflecting heightened geopolitical tensions and increased procurement activity worldwide.

By bringing stockholding, forging, and heat treatment, precision engineering, additive manufacturing, and advanced non-destructive testing under a single accountable structure, the new division aims to reduce operational friction, shorten qualification timelines, and provide end-to-end traceability for mission-critical materials.
Enquiries have opened ahead of a formal go-live scheduled before the end of the year, with a dedicated team already handling approvals, audits, and program onboarding.
Founder and CEO Emma Parkinson said aerospace and defence customers require certainty in both material availability and documentation, particularly when delivery schedules are tight.

She noted that linking a focused commercial organization directly to the group’s manufacturing and testing capabilities is intended to provide procurement teams with a single, accountable partner capable of meeting strict standards while managing program costs.
The new unit builds on the reputation of the group’s steel stockholding arm, International Energy Products, which was ranked among the fastest-growing companies in the UK by The Sunday Times 100 in 2024 and received a King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2025.
Parkinson, who also serves as a Department for Business & Trade Export Champion, oversees a broader portfolio that includes International Precision Engineering, International Additive Manufacturing, International NDT Solutions, and International Forgings & Heat Treatment.
With the addition of the aerospace and defence alloys division, the group said it aims to offer customers a unified pathway to supply, process, machine, and certify specialized materials for critical applications across global aerospace and defence programs.
