France-based sparkling tea maker Richeerz announced on Tuesday that the recently finalized free trade agreement between India and the European Union is expected to create significant momentum for bilateral trade in the non-alcoholic beverages segment, as the company explores deeper sourcing and market expansion opportunities linked to India.
The firm currently imports Darjeeling tea from India as a core ingredient in its products and is now evaluating plans to enter the Indian market through exports and local partnerships.
Speaking to PTI, SAS Richeerz President Richard Brandazzi said the company is actively seeking an Indian partner, noting that shifting trade dynamics and consumer trends make this an ideal moment to expand into the country.

Richeerz is showcasing its sparkling tea portfolio at Biofach 2026, where India has been designated the ‘Country of the Year’ at the four-day event that began on February 10.
The India Pavilion has been organized by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, the commerce ministry’s export promotion body.
APEDA said India’s participation reflects the growing global demand for organic products, the expanding footprint of Indian exports, and stronger engagement from exporters, industry associations, and farmer-producer organizations.
India and the EU announced the conclusion of a comprehensive free trade agreement on January 27, with implementation expected later this year. ‘

Industry participants believe the pact could lower barriers and create new channels for specialized food and beverage products, including premium tea-based drinks.
Brandazzi described the company’s sparkling tea as the “champagne of non-alcoholic beverages,” highlighting its relatively low sugar content. According to him, the drink contains around four percent fruit glucose, significantly less than many milk tea varieties that can carry sugar levels of 30 to 40%.
He added that India’s strong tea culture and large consumer base make it a strategic market for the brand, and that Biofach 2026 offers an important platform to connect with potential Indian buyers and distribution partners.
