The Chattogram Port Authority has launched a new automated system aimed at speeding up and improving transparency in export-import operations at the country’s largest seaport.
Under a revenue-sharing outsourcing model, CPA has engaged Magnetic Tech Limited to operate a newly introduced help point known as the ‘CPA Agent Desk System.’ A web-based platform has also been developed to support port users in handling export-import documentation and related processes.
CPA Secretary Omar Faruk said the system will allow users to carry out data entry, delivery order processing, and a wide range of documentation services, including corrections to Bills of Lading, Export General Manifests, and Import General Manifests. The platform is designed to centralize documentation workflows and reduce manual intervention.

According to CPA sources, the necessary work to develop a payment gateway has been completed, enabling users to access services online. Key port stakeholders such as shipping agents, freight forwarders, and clearing and forwarding agents have been briefed on the operational procedures, practice manuals, and the benefits of the new system.
CPA officials said the platform is expected to bring greater efficiency to port management, lower processing costs, and simplify documentation through a fully online interface. They also expect the system to enhance transparency, expand digitalization across port operations, and strengthen the international image of the country’s primary seaport.

Port traffic has continued to grow alongside the digital push. From January to October 2025, the port handled 2.849 million TEUs of containers, 115.07 million metric tons of cargo, and 3,552 vessels.
This represented an increase of 132,328 TEUs, 12.91 million metric tons of cargo, and 351 ships compared with the same period in 2024. Growth rates stood at 4.87% for container handling, 12.64% for cargo volumes, and 10.97% for vessel traffic, CPA sources said.
