Vietnam Airlines is set to launch a new direct flight connecting Hanoi and Jakarta starting November 22, aiming to boost Vietnamese tourism through improved ASEAN integration.
The Hanoi–Jakarta route was officially inaugurated at a ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday, becoming the airline’s second direct route between Vietnam and Indonesia this year, following the launch of the Ho Chi Minh City–Denpasar route in June.
The route, linking Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport with Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, marks a significant advancement in regional connectivity. It is expected to facilitate convenient travel for both Indonesian and Vietnamese passengers, enhancing Vietnam’s appeal as a tourist destination and contributing to the growth of its hospitality sector.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the service will run several times a week, with overnight flights scheduled to optimize daytime activities for both business and leisure passengers.

Vietnam Airlines will operate through the new route utilizing its latest Airbus A321, which is part of its diverse Airbus fleet dedicated to short-haul international operations.
With a flight duration of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes, the route is expected to attract strong demand from leisure travelers, as its daytime schedule aligns well with holiday travel preferences.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia, Ta Van Thong, highlighted that the launch of the new route not only enhances air connectivity between Vietnam and Indonesia but also signifies a significant step in their bilateral partnership.
Vietnam’s tourism sector is currently thriving, having welcomed 13.9 million international visitors in 2025. This upward trend is projected to continue with the new service route. Amid growing competition, the route is likely to stand out, driven by strong demand from business travelers.
