The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the foreign trade arm of India’s Commerce Ministry, has launched a pilot project for Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu, a digital single-window platform designed to integrate testing and inspection agencies across the country.
The initiative aims to streamline the certification process for export and import consignments by enabling faster, paperless, and more transparent procedures.
According to a DGFT trade notice issued on Monday, the pilot phase of the Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu platform will begin on November 4. Exporters and importers are able to start submitting applications for product and commodity testing through the platform from November 11.

The system will digitally connect Traders and accredited testing and inspection agencies through a unified online interface, allowing seamless search, selection, application, tracking, and retrieval of digital test reports and certifications across various product categories.
The DGFT stated that the new digital platform is intended to enhance efficiency by reducing delays, improving traceability of test results, and boosting international confidence in India’s quality infrastructure.
The system is also expected to promote transparency and accessibility of accredited testing and inspection agencies across the country.

To ensure a smooth transition, the DGFT said that parallel testing will continue during the pilot phase. Exporters and importers will still be able to obtain test reports through existing procedures while the Lab Setu system undergoes evaluation and refinement based on user feedback.
The initiative reflects the government’s broader push toward digital transformation in trade facilitation, strengthening India’s position as a reliable and efficient partner in global commerce.
