President Droupadi Murmu on Monday called on Indian exporters of engineering goods to transform challenges in global trade into opportunities by leveraging the country’s strong capabilities. Speaking at the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), she stressed the importance of adaptability and innovation in strengthening India’s economic position.
“India’s engineering export destinations have changed significantly over the last seven decades. The Engineering Export Promotion Council should continue this process of change and keep working to make India’s economy continuously stronger with the spirit of Nation First,” she said.

Highlighting the growth of engineering exports, the President noted that India’s exports in this sector had risen from 70 billion dollars to over 115 billion dollars in the past decade, despite disruptions in international trade. She commended EEPC for playing a pivotal role in achieving this milestone.
Murmu described EEPC as a bridge between Indian producers and global markets and urged it to further expand India’s role in the global value chain. With shifts in the world trade and international economic order, she said EEPC’s responsibilities had become even more crucial.
The President emphasized that India’s ability to deliver high-quality engineering services and products at competitive costs is a major advantage. She also pointed out that many of the world’s leading companies have set up Global Capability Centers in India, reinforcing the country’s position as a hub of talent and expertise.

Calling for India to evolve into a global innovation center, Murmu urged stakeholders to provide the right ecosystem and incentives for innovation. “Innovation economies are the most competitive and prosperous in the world. All stakeholders of EEPC should pledge to make India a leading innovation economy,” she added.
She also reminded the audience of India’s rich history in trade and knowledge. “In ancient times, India led the world in both spirituality and trade. Making India once again a leading centre of knowledge and trade should be the resolution of all citizens,” she said, urging EEPC to pursue this vision with determination.
