The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) has intensified efforts to expand the country’s textile and ready-to-wear garment exports following high-level talks between Abdel Aziz Elsherif, Head of the ECS, and Fadel Marzouk, Chairperson of the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AECE). The discussions focused on strengthening Egypt’s competitiveness in global markets amid ongoing disruptions to international trade and supply chains.
Elsherif stressed the need for closer coordination between the ECS and industry export councils, highlighting the pivotal role of Egypt’s overseas commercial offices. These offices, which provide vital market research, technical requirements, and regulatory updates, are set to be more actively leveraged to help exporters access new destinations.

As part of its strategy, the ECS will facilitate stronger engagement between Egyptian exporters and international buyers through direct meetings, participation in global trade fairs, and targeted export missions. With global supply chains realigning due to geopolitical tensions, Elsherif identified Europe as a particularly promising market where Egypt can fill supply gaps. He added that the ECS will continue using real-time data and input from foreign offices to identify high-opportunity markets.
AECE Chairperson Marzouk noted the sector’s strong momentum, with garment exports reaching $1.608 billion between January and June 2025, up from $1.283 billion a year earlier, marking a 25% growth. He projected full-year growth of 25–30%, while outlining an ambitious target to raise exports to $12 billion by 2031. This goal, he said, is part of wider efforts to enhance global competitiveness and attract investment from major hubs such as Turkey, China, Vietnam, and India.

Marzouk also highlighted Africa as an increasingly important market, pointing to rising consumer demand in many fast-developing economies across the continent.
The meeting concluded with an agreement for the AECE to provide detailed data on Egypt’s production capacity and target markets. This will enable the ECS and its global network of offices to refine export promotion strategies and align marketing efforts with real-time opportunities worldwide.
