Vietnamese enterprises are strategically shifting toward green, clean, and digital export practices to meet increasingly stringent global trade requirements and enhance their competitive edge in international markets.
Nguyen Dinh Tung, CEO of Vina T&T Import Export Service Trading, noted that rising technical barriers are levelling the playing field and compelling exporters to focus on quality and regulatory compliance. He highlighted recent milestones in Vietnam’s agricultural exports, with pomelo gaining entry into New Zealand, passion fruit into Australia, and coconut into the United States.

Tung also identified the Middle East and Halal-certified countries as promising yet underexplored markets for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exporters. “These markets offer significant potential, provided we adapt to their unique standards,” he said.
Echoing this view, Le Thi Giau, Chairwoman of Binh Tay Food, urged Vietnamese firms to invest in eco-friendly factories and modern production lines to meet the sustainability criteria of target markets.
Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, pointed to Vietnam’s network of free trade agreements (FTAs) as instrumental in reducing global trade barriers. He emphasised the growing global emphasis on social responsibility, adding, “Controlling chemical residues in food is critical for ensuring safety, aligning with international norms, and broadening export reach.”

Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Centre (ITPC), stressed the need for Vietnamese exporters to proactively address the strict import regulations of major markets such as the US, EU, and Japan. “Limits on chemical residues require proactive steps,” she said, advocating for the use of advanced quality control technologies, robust inspection systems, and cooperation with independent certification bodies to ensure transparency and compliance.
