Türkiye has intensified efforts to deepen trade ties with the United Kingdom by organizing a focused trade mission in London to promote its household and kitchenware exports.
The initiative, led by the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), brought together 16 Turkish companies for a full day of direct business-to-business meetings with British importers. The objective was to enhance Türkiye’s export access to the UK market, highlight its innovative product designs, and foster long-term commercial partnerships.
Senior representatives, including the Turkish Trade Ministry’s Foreign Trade Specialist Melda Akoglu Sisman and IKMIB Board Member Ali Kucuk, joined the mission. The delegation was also briefed by Zeynep Sezen, the Turkish Commercial Counsellor in London, who presented insights on UK market trends and consumer behavior.

IKMIB Chairman Adil Pelister stressed the strategic importance of the UK for Türkiye’s household and kitchenware industry, especially plastic-based products. He noted that Türkiye’s exports in this category reached $92.5 million in 2024, with plastic goods contributing $45.8 million. Türkiye currently ranks as the UK’s third-largest supplier of such products, following China and France.
“Our goal with this mission is to increase our exports to the U.K. and grow our share in its global import market,” Pelister said, pointing to the vital role of trade delegations in elevating international competitiveness.

Alongside business meetings, participants toured UK retail chains such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons to observe in-store product placements and consumer trends. These visits offered valuable insights into market preferences and opportunities for Turkish firms to tailor their offerings.
The mission saw participation from 37 British buyers and included 328 bilateral meetings, facilitating product presentations and exploring collaborative opportunities, particularly in the plastic kitchenware segment.
