Thailand has welcomed over one million visitors from the United Kingdom in 2025, marking the first time since the pandemic, reflecting its growing popularity among international tourists.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and its partners celebrated the arrival of the one-millionth UK tourist at Suvarnabhumi Airport. This achievement sets a new record for long-haul visitors, with total international arrivals surpassing 10 million.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the strength of the long-haul tourism, noting the growth across all regions.
“Europe, especially the UK, is a key quality market for Thailand,” he said, adding that the UK consistently ranks among the Top 10 countries sending the highest number of tourists to Thailand.
UK tourists often choose destinations such as Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, Surat Thani, and Chiang Mai.

Currently, five airlines—Thai Airways, EVA Air, British Airways, Norse Atlantic Airways, and TUI UK—operate direct services between the UK and Thailand, providing 35 weekly flights, particularly during the October–March season.
This marks a 12% rise in seat capacity compared to 2024.
TAT projects that UK arrivals will climb to nearly 1.1 million by the end of 2025, generating more than 80 billion baht in tourism revenue.
TAT attributes the achievement to joint marketing campaigns with UK airlines and travel agencies. Between October 2025 and March 2026, 19 promotions were organized to boost travel to Thailand, supported by partners such as British Airways, Norse Atlantic Airways, TUI UK, Trailfinders, Travelbag, Kuoni, Healing Holidays, Destinology, Dial A Flight, Muay Thai Holidays, Southall Travel, and Best At Travel.

In 2026, the UK market shows strong growth potential with expanding flight options. British Airways will operate its London Gatwick–Bangkok route year-round from March 31, 2026, adding 60,000 seats annually.
Additionally, Virgin Atlantic will launch thrice-weekly direct flights from London Heathrow to Phuket for the 2026-2027 winter season, enhancing access to key Thai destinations and strengthening Thailand’s appeal in the UK market.
