Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on Thursday finalized several agreements aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields, including energy, mining, trade, agriculture, culture, health, tourism, and regional connectivity.
The agreements, which had been pre-signed, were officially exchanged during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House, marking the first state visit of Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, who was visiting at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Among the accords, one focused on establishing a sister-city partnership between Bishkek and Islamabad, while another memorandum of understanding outlined collaboration on using Pakistani ports to promote regional connectivity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Sadyr Zhaparov also endorsed a joint declaration titled ‘Strengthening of Comprehensive Cooperation in the Interest of Both Countries,’ aimed at deepening overall bilateral ties.
Additionally, both nations exchanged MoUs linking Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy with Kyrgyzstan’s Diplomatic Academy, as well as between the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce and Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce.
The Pakistani and Kyrgyz sides also exchanged MoUs covering cooperation in agriculture, mining and geosciences, the energy sector, and the use of Pakistani ports to enhance regional connectivity.

Further MoUs were exchanged on electronic data sharing between the customs authorities of the two countries, cooperation in tourism, and the production of surgical instruments.
Finally, documents were exchanged for cooperation in the cultural sector and for establishing the sister-city relationship between Bishkek and Islamabad.
Shehbaz stated that Pakistan is prepared to grant landlocked Kyrgyzstan access to regional and international markets via its ports.
He made these remarks during a press briefing in Islamabad with the Kyrgyz president after their bilateral talks.
