Morocco’s tourism sector has achieved a significant accolade, as the country has been awarded the title of ‘Destination of the Year’ at the 2025 Travel Awards, held on Friday in Brussels. The event took place at Skyhall, Brussels Airport, and brought together around 1,000 travel professionals.
The award highlights Morocco’s notable progress within the international tourism industry, showcasing the nation’s increasing appeal as both a cultural and luxury destination.
This recognition further reinforces Morocco’s position as a leading travel hub, underscoring its continued commitment to delivering high-quality travel experiences for visitors worldwide.
Morocco recently achieved 13th place globally in the latest UNWTO tourism rankings, reflecting the country’s dedication to advancing its tourism infrastructure.

In 2024, the country recorded an unprecedented 17.4 million tourist arrivals. By October 2025, Morocco had already welcomed 16.6 million visitors, representing a 14% increase compared to the previous year.
The total number of arrivals for 2025 is projected to surpass 18 million, with some forecasts anticipating up to 20 million tourists. This growth is expected to be further supported by the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is poised to provide an additional boost to Morocco’s tourism sector.
The rise in visitor numbers reflects Morocco’s continued efforts to attract both leisure and business travelers, with a growing emphasis on premium tourism and luxury experiences that blend cultural immersion with modern amenities.

In line with this, Morocco is investing heavily in its aviation infrastructure. Expansion projects at Marrakech-Menara Airport and Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca are designed to boost capacity and enhance the arrival experience for international visitors.
Additionally, new direct flight routes from Europe and the Middle East are facilitating access to Morocco, further supporting the growth in tourist arrivals.
