Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan’s export potential and resource-driven trade strategy during a press briefing at Osaka Expo 2025, drawing attention to the country’s focus on value addition and international collaboration.
Addressing media representatives from over 43 local and international outlets, the minister underscored Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable trade practices and innovation. He spotlighted pink salt as a symbolic and strategic export, serving as a centrepiece of the Pakistan Pavilion under the theme ‘Universe in a Grain of Salt.’

Khan praised the Japan Association for its crucial support in completing the pavilion, which he described as a vital platform for promoting Pakistan’s natural resources and evolving trade priorities. “The Association’s support enabled the pavilion’s completion and helped establish it as a site of engagement,” he said, adding that the pavilion had already received strong visitor interest.
Outlining key export sectors, Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s established strength in textiles while drawing attention to growth areas such as leather, surgical instruments, sports goods, and information technology. He also emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s agricultural exports, particularly rice.

The pavilion’s design incorporates salt flooring and interactive exhibits, reflecting Expo 2025’s main theme, ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives,’ and its sub-theme, ‘Saving Lives.’ According to Khan, pink salt represents more than just a commodity; it exemplifies Pakistan’s broader trade direction and sustainable development goals.
The minister invited global visitors to participate in Pakistan’s National Day celebrations on August 14, 2025, and attend a series of upcoming trade-focused events at the Expo, including food tastings and product showcases.
During the day, Khan also engaged in high-level meetings and visited pavilions of several participating nations, including Japan, China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, France, Qatar, Turkey, the UK, Palestine, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan, with a focus on enhancing trade ties and regional cooperation.
