Indonesia’s gaming industry is hastening its entry into the global market with a strong presence at Gamescom 2025, the world’s largest gaming exhibition, held at Koelnmesse GmbH in Cologne, Germany. Trade Minister Budi Santoso described the event as a prime opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s gaming strengths and support developers in expanding to international markets.
“Gamescom 2025 is a strategic platform to introduce Indonesia’s potential to the world. We are committed to supporting developers in reaching global markets, boosting exports, and positioning Indonesia as a major player in the international gaming industry,” Budi said in a statement on Tuesday, August 19.

The Indonesia Pavilion, occupying a 60-square-meter space in Hall 03.2, features the innovations of ten selected game studios: Agate, Busy Beaver Studio, Digital Happiness, Gambir Studio, Kumagema, Rizero Studios, Separuh Interactive, SLAB, GU-Studio, and Lapakgaming. Their participation underscores the diversity and strength of Indonesia’s growing gaming ecosystem.
Beyond the exhibition, Indonesian participants have scheduled 222 business meetings via the MeetToMatch app, aiming to secure partnerships that will open global market opportunities for digital products and services.
Indonesia’s participation was made possible through collaboration between the Ministry of Trade, via the Trade Attaché in Berlin, and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Hamburg, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, Jakarta’s Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI).

Director General of National Export Development at the Trade Ministry, Fajarini Puntodewi, stressed that Indonesia’s involvement in major international events is part of a long-term plan to strengthen the competitiveness of its gaming industry. “This participation is not just about promotion, but also about building long-term collaboration with global strategic partners. We believe that with government support, Indonesia’s gaming ecosystem can compete on the international stage while significantly boosting service exports,” she said.
The global gaming industry is projected to reach $397.21 billion by 2029, with Germany’s market expected to expand from $5.35 billion in 2024 to $6.95 billion by 2027. In this context, Indonesia is positioning itself for greater engagement, with total trade between Indonesia and Germany recorded at $3.03 billion in the first half of 2025.
