The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has launched the Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia (MaiA), an AI platform designed to enhance tourism services and improve global competitiveness.
The Ministry of Tourism stated that the digital platform assists travelers in discovering trip ideas and instantly generating routes, offering personalized destination suggestions, automated itineraries, interactive maps, and multilingual support.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana unveiled the platform on Friday during an event in Jakarta titled ‘Transforming Travel Beyond Ordinary Through Intelligence.’
Wardhana noted that MaiA is developed in response to evolving global travel trends, which increasingly call for personalized, efficient, and easily accessible experiences.

The launch of MaiA is part of the Tourism 5.0 priority program, which focuses on improving the quality of national tourism services by leveraging adaptive technology and catering to global travelers’ preference for convenient, hassle-free experiences.
Wardhana stressed that the adoption of the platform reflects the government’s dedication to creating a smart, inclusive, and sustainable tourism ecosystem.
MaiA, accessible via the Indonesia travel website, enables travelers to easily uncover destinations, broadening tourism diversity and encouraging exploration across Indonesia’s archipelago.
Additionally, it boosts tourism spending by connecting visitors with local businesses such as small hotels, artisan shops, and restaurants, thereby supporting the local economy.

MaiA also includes an interactive chatbox, voice input, and word-correction tools, enabling tourists to ask detailed and flexible questions. Furthermore, it is free for all users and supports multiple languages.
Moreover, MaiA connects international travelers with local experiences, fostering cultural exchange and boosting Indonesia’s tourism presence globally.
It also has the potential to enhance regional collaboration by aligning Indonesia’s tourism strategies with other Southeast Asian countries, encouraging cross-border travel and regional tourism integration.
