Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has achieved a record by exporting 3,624 metric tons of Indian mangoes to top global cities, including London, New York, and Toronto. The mango export underscores the rising international appetite for India’s famed ‘King of Fruits.’
Renowned for their aroma, sweetness, and diverse varieties such as Alphonso, Kesar, and Banganapalli, Indian mangoes continue to charm consumers around the world. This year’s surge in exports marks a major rise over previous years, driven largely by the strong presence of the Indian diaspora and growing global appreciation for the fruit’s exceptional quality.
London received the largest volume of shipments, followed by New York and Toronto. Exporters credit the heightened demand to both taste appeal and improved logistics infrastructure.

Thousands of mango farmers from states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh have benefited from the increased exports, with trade analysts noting a positive impact on rural incomes and global market access for Indian horticulture.
“This record-breaking export reflects both the exceptional quality of Indian mangoes and the growing efficiency of India’s cold-chain logistics and packaging standards,” said an official from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
CSMIA’s state-of-the-art perishable cargo terminal, featuring modern cold storage systems and streamlined export clearance, played a key role in maintaining freshness during long-haul transit. Collaboration between airport authorities, the Plant Quarantine Office, and Customs further ensured rapid, seamless processing.

Beyond its economic impact, the mango export success also highlights India’s cultural influence abroad. Social media users in London and Toronto shared their excitement about receiving fresh Indian mangoes, celebrating the taste of home thousands of miles away.
Industry players are eyeing expansion into new markets such as Australia and the Middle East. With this year’s success setting a new benchmark, Indian mangoes are expected to reach even more global consumers in seasons to come.
