Ghana and Morocco have established a strategic alliance following a productive diplomatic mission led by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The visit led to a series of landmark agreements on Saturday, to strengthen collaboration in key sectors, including education, agriculture, aviation, and trade.
Ablakwa described the visit’s outcome as a milestone in Ghana-Morocco relations, emphasizing that the agreements demonstrate a strong commitment to providing real benefits for the Ghanaian people.
“This goes beyond diplomacy—it’s about tangible progress,” he affirmed.
“We are empowering our students, supporting our farmers, training our pilots, and attracting investment into industries that matter most to Ghanaians,” he added.

A key advantage of the new partnership is the increase in scholarships provided by the Moroccan government to Ghanaian students, doubling from 70 to 140 each year. Ablakwa highlighted that the expansion will create more opportunities for young Ghanaians to pursue higher education abroad, particularly in technical and professional disciplines.
Morocco will contribute 2,000 tons of fertilizer to support Ghanaian farmers. Additionally, both nations have agreed to jointly develop an advanced fertilizer manufacturing facility in Ghana, utilizing Moroccan technical expertise. The initiative is expected to decrease Ghana’s dependency on imported fertilizers and ensure more stable agricultural production.

The Ghana-Morocco Business Forum will take place in October 2025 in Morocco, bringing together business leaders, investors, and policymakers from both nations. The event aims to enhance commercial collaborations and drive investment across vital industries.
Both governments also recognized key projects for collaboration, including seaport expansion, railway development, textile manufacturing, and pharmaceutical production. Ablakwa also stressed the strong potential of the sectors to generate jobs and drive industrial growth.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs reiterated that the initiative clearly reflects the nation’s proactive foreign policy, which prioritizes job creation, expanding opportunities, and building the future Ghana deserves.
