Egyptian government entities have signed two cooperation protocols aimed at auditing and unifying the country’s export and import trade data across official data-issuing authorities, to improve accuracy, consistency, and transparency in foreign trade statistics
According to a Cabinet statement, the protocols seek to align national data methodologies with international standards for calculating macroeconomic indicators, while enhancing the quality and reliability of official figures.
The agreements are the outcome of work by two specialized committees, one established under Prime Ministerial Decree No. 1887 of 2023 to unify export data, and another formed under Decree No. 3610 of 2024 to unify import data.

Mostafa Madbouly said the signing reflects a strategic shift toward tradable sectors with high added value, alongside efforts to expand Egypt’s export base and strengthen confidence in Egyptian products in global markets.
He added that the move supports broader structural reforms aimed at increasing the added value of goods and services linked to foreign trade.
Madbouly noted that establishing a unified database for exports and imports would help reinforce macroeconomic stability by improving policy predictability and supporting the development of a more dynamic and resilient economy.
He said this would contribute to achieving targeted growth rates, boosting investor confidence, and increasing foreign-currency inflows.

Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, said the protocols are part of Egypt’s efforts to comply with unified international statistical classifications covering exported goods, imported goods entering through border ports, and re-exported items.
She emphasized that the initiative aims to provide accurate and comprehensive data to support policymaking through coordinated government action and standardized auditing procedures that ensure integrity, transparency, and reliability.
Al-Mashat added that the agreements align with the objectives of Egypt’s national economic development narrative and Egypt Vision 2030.
She stressed the importance of building a strong technical and regulatory framework that guarantees unified data standards, periodic audits, and secure data exchange through an integrated electronic system, ensuring sustainable and dependable statistics to underpin economic decision-making.
