Egypt launched several industrial projects within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) on Saturday, including textile investments worth $110 million from Türkiye’s Eroglu Global Holding and China’s Hengsheng Textile Technology.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the projects alongside Eroglu Chairman Nurettin Eroglu and Hengsheng Chairperson Chen Songfu.
The Chinese-owned Hengsheng Textile facility, focused on printing, dyeing, and garment manufacturing, is one of the notable projects among the initiatives. Situated in the West Qantara industrial zone, northeast of Cairo, the factory accounts for a $70 million investment and covers an area of 200,000 square meters.
The facility is being built in two stages, with the initial phase already up and running. Upon full completion, it is projected to create around 1,300 direct employment opportunities. According to Chen Songfu, the company is dedicated to adopting eco-friendly technologies to manufacture premium textiles aligned with Egypt’s long-term industrial development goals.

Another project launched is the Eroglu Garment factory, a branch of Türkiye’s Eroglu Global Holding. Covering 64,000 square meters, the facility involves a $40 million investment and is expected to employ 2,750 workers. Eroglu Holding has been operating in Egypt since 2007, with previous ventures in Ismailia and Damietta. Its total investments in the country have increased from $150 million to $450 million, and its workforce has grown from 2,500 to 10,000 employees.
Upcoming projects include Henneway (China) for luggage production, as well as De Sita (China) and High Tech (Thailand) for apparel manufacturing. These initiatives are scheduled to launch in phases throughout next year.
Prime Minister Madbouly stated that the newly launched facilities align with Egypt’s overarching plan to boost local manufacturing, increase export capacity, and generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
