Cambodia reached a new milestone in its trade relations with Australia, as domestic agribusiness Royal Trust Trading Company (RTT) sent its first shipment of nuts and dried fruits to the Australian market.
The inaugural shipment of over 12 metric tons of cashew nuts, dried mangoes, dried jackfruit, banana chips, and taro chips was exported by RTT with support from the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) program. CAPRED assists Cambodian agribusinesses in enhancing their export readiness and building connections with international buyers. The shipment officially launched on Thursday in Phnom Penh.
Representatives from the Australian Embassy, the Ministry of Commerce, Khmer Enterprise, and RTT were present at the event, highlighting the growing trade collaboration between Cambodia and Australia.

Australian Ambassador Derek Yip stated that the partnership with Australia will help Cambodia explore new sectors, enhance trade competitiveness, and access new markets, supporting the country’s goal of transitioning from Least Developed Country status.
“These efforts will help strengthen bilateral trade between our nations and ensure Cambodian products reach more consumers around the world,” he added.
Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, praised the partnership as a crucial move toward strengthening Cambodia’s agro-processing industry in the face of an unpredictable global trade landscape.

CAPRED delivered specialized export-readiness training and market linkage support to RTT and other Cambodian agribusinesses, helping them meet international standards and connect with global buyers. Meanwhile, a second, larger shipment with a broader range of products is already in the pipeline.
In 2024, Cambodia and Australia recorded $1.1 billion in bilateral trade, with Cambodian exports making up over 70% of the total value.
