Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States surged 21.66% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2025, strengthening the country’s position as one of the fastest-growing suppliers to the world’s largest clothing market.
Between January and July, Bangladesh shipped apparel worth $4.98 billion to the U.S., according to the latest trade data. This far outpaced overall U.S. apparel import growth of 4.96% during the same period, which reached a total of $45.80 billion globally.
In terms of quantity, Bangladeshi garment shipments to the U.S. grew 20.33%, while the average unit price increased by 1.11%.

“This strong growth proves Bangladesh is consolidating its position as one of the most reliable sourcing destinations for global buyers,” said Mohiuddin Rubel, former director of BGMEA and managing director of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange. He noted that while China’s exports to the U.S. fell by more than 21%, Bangladesh gained ground on both volume and value.
Global sourcing shifts
Once the dominant force in global apparel exports, China recorded a 21.01% decline in export value to the U.S. and a nearly 16% drop in quantity, alongside a 6.05% fall in unit prices.

Other Asian suppliers also made notable gains. Vietnam’s exports rose 16.94%, India’s 16.10%, Pakistan’s 11.81%, Indonesia’s 16.80%, and Cambodia’s 24.45%. Cambodia stood out with a 31.11% increase in shipment volume, while Bangladesh followed closely at 20.33%.
Outside Asia, suppliers delivered mixed results. Mexico’s exports edged up 2.40%, Honduras declined by 11.78%, and Korea recorded a 7.59% fall.
