The Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA) has confirmed that 16 Tanzanian companies have been officially authorized to export avocados to China, marking a major step forward in the nation’s agricultural export sector.
This development follows the company’s registration with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), which verified Tanzania’s compliance with China’s stringent phytosanitary and import requirements. The announcement was made during the opening of the Nanenane Farmers’ Exhibition at Nzuguni grounds in Dodoma.
TPHPA described the approval as a milestone that reflects Tanzania’s rising status as a reliable source of high-quality horticultural products that meet international standards. The decision stems from a bilateral agreement and inspection process between Tanzania and China, confirming that Tanzanian avocado exports are safe and meet plant health regulations.

The clearance opens major opportunities for Tanzanian farmers, agribusinesses, and exporters, providing direct access to one of the world’s largest consumer markets. It is expected to stimulate trade, encourage value addition, and improve incomes within the agricultural sector.
TPHPA reaffirmed its commitment, alongside the Ministry of Agriculture, to support exporters and farmers through sustained technical assistance and regulatory oversight. It also urged stakeholders to maintain compliance with international export and phytosanitary standards to preserve the sector’s global competitiveness.

The approved companies include Green Fruits Supplies Company, Vegpro Tanzania, Jamboo Fresh, Tanzania Agrofoods Company, Tova Farm Company, Seasons Orchards, Agrocert Tanzania Company, Avo Distribution Group, Lima, Korongo 3 Agribusiness, Kibidula Farm, Africado, Avoafrica Tz, Kuza Africa Company, Parachichi Fresh Products, and USA.
TPHPA, established under Act No. 04 of 2020, was formed through a merger between the Plant Health Section of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Tropical Pesticides Research Institute (TPRI) to enhance coordination and improve the regulation of phytosanitary and pesticide standards nationwide.
